Any reference in this Privacy Policy to "we," "us," or "our" refers to MAAGAL™. Any reference in this Privacy Policy to “you” or “your” refers to you, and the term “user” refers to you and may refer also to each of the other users of the Service depending on the context.
This Privacy Policy describes how MAAGAL, operating out of Israel, collects, uses, and protects personal information about you when you use the MAAGAL mobile application ("App") and related services (the "Service").
MAAGAL is a social matchmaking platform where connections are made through networking circles. MAAGAL aims to foster genuine, trust-based connections. The Service relies on real social relationships — you are expected to know and trust the people in your circle, and to ensure that the information provided is fully accurate and reliable, and does not violate any of the Content requirements and restrictions to protect the privacy rights of others as set out in the Terms of Use of MAAGAL or under applicable law.
MAAGAL is tailored for straight orthodox / traditional Jewish singles seeking meaningful relationships within their community. The Service's features, matching criteria, and user experience focus on the values and traditions of this community. Certain data we collect (such as faith, denomination, and relationship preferences) reflects this community focus. This is not intended to express judgment toward, exclude or offend any person of any ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
This Service is intended for users residing in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel. If you are not resident in one of such intended areas of Service, do not use the Service.
By using the Service, you consent and agree to the collection and use of information for the provision of the Service, including as described below in this Privacy Policy. IF YOU DO NOT CONSENT AND AGREE TO ALL OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, DO NOT CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND DO NOT USE THE SERVICE. Specifically for Australian users, please note that this Service may involve overseas disclosure of the information that you provide, and by virtue of your consent to use this Service, MAAGAL may not be required to take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas recipient of your information does not breach your data privacy rights.

MAAGAL may use artificial intelligence, automated systems, and third-party services for the following purposes:
We process your profile information to suggest compatible matches, calculate compatibility scores, and improve recommendations. Because matchmaking is the core purpose of the Service, AI-assisted matching is enabled by default for eligible (matchable) members. You can turn it off in your settings; turning it off stops using your information for further AI match processing. You can remove the interest tags and other matching details at any time by editing or clearing them in your settings, and deleting your account deletes this data entirely.

How this processing works: to suggest AI matches, we use an open-source AI model that is run as our own private copy — your information is not sent to any outside AI service.
That copy runs on cloud infrastructure provided by our hosting providers (Supabase/AWS and Google Cloud — see §11), which store and run it according to our instructions and do not receive permission to use your data for their own purposes or to train AI.
Your profile text is processed by our private, self-hosted copy of the model — never sent to a third-party AI service such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google's Gemini to be analyzed.

For profile photo moderation, the Service has used AWS Rekognition (operated by Amazon Web Services in the US East region). Photos are automatically rejected if Rekognition detects any of the following categories: Explicit Nudity, Suggestive content, Graphic Violence, Visually Disturbing content, Drugs, or Hate Symbols.
Rejected photos are retained for 30 days to allow you to appeal the automated decision, and following such period (or longer if required for enforcement or compliance purposes) they will be deleted. You have the right to appeal any automated moderation decision by contacting us at support@MAAGAL.love within the 30-day appeal window. Appeals are reviewed by a human member of our team.
Content that is flagged as inappropriate may be removed, and your account may be suspended or terminated in accordance with our Terms of Service.
Where enabled for identity verification or safety features, the Service may extract a facial embedding — a mathematical representation of facial features used for face matching. Using facial embeddings, we may:
When enabled, facial embeddings of verified accounts are stored on our servers (encrypted at rest) and deleted when you delete your account. At any time, you may request deletion of your facial embedding by contacting privacy@MAAGAL.love .
If a similarity match against a banned user is detected, your account may be suspended for manual administration review. If the review determines a false positive, your account will be restored.
Private chat messages are not analyzed by AI for matchmaking purposes. Your photos are not used for AI model training. AI models are not trained on your personal data.
Compatibility scores and match suggestions are generated automatically but are presented for your review — no match decision is made on your behalf without your input. Content monitoring (moderation) decisions may be made automatically, but you may appeal any such decision by contacting us at privacy@MAAGAL.love .
You can update or remove your profile information through the App settings. Deleting your account removes your data from any regular AI processing.
MAAGAL is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete his or her account and associated data.
If you believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us immediately.
Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your country of residence, including countries where Supabase (AWS), Firebase and Google Cloud (Google — Google Cloud also hosts our self-hosted matching models, e.g. via Cloud Run), and other service providers, operate their infrastructure. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
